Call for Abstracts (Travel Grant Applications)

The Japan Surgical Society calls for applications for travel grant to encourage young surgeons from abroad to attend and participate in the 118th Annual Congress of Japan Surgical Society (JSS2018). A prerequisite is that an applicant has to make an oral or poster presentation at the Congress which means she/he needs to submit an abstract to JSS2018.

What is included in Travel Grant

1. JPY 100,000 for grant winners from Asian countries and JPY 200,000 for those from countries outside Asia
2. Complimentary registration to JSS2018

Eligibility

Young surgeons or surgical residents (aged 40 and under at the time of abstract submission) working or training in countries other than Japan.

Application Guidelines

1. We expect to receive original and unique presentations in various surgery fields.
2. Applications must be made online via this website.
3. Only one abstract per applicant can be submitted.
4. Presentation at the Congress must be delivered in English.
5. Abstracts must be 250 words or less. Please note that you cannot complete registration if your abstract text contains more than 250 words.
6. Selection will be based on evaluation of abstracts. The Congress President has the right to decide the acceptance of the submitted abstract as well as the presentation style and the session theme.
7. Accepted abstracts will be published in Japan Surgical Society publications and on our website.
8. To avoid problems due to website congestion right before the deadline, we recommend early applications.
9. Abstract submission number and password will be required if you wish to modify submitted information. Please be sure to keep the number and the password which will be issued when application is done. Note that for security reasons, inquiries on passwords will not be accepted.
10. Applicants must take responsibility for obtaining the visa required to enter Japan.
11. Recipients of travel grants will be announced individually by December, 2017
